​Installing window screen is essential when you want to open the windows and let in fresh air yet keep out bugs and insects. It is quite easy to install window screens and most of the homes in Arizona have sunscreens on windows and doors.

There are basically two types of sunscreen materials used in windows and doors- fiberglass and aluminum. Fiberglass is less expensive and blocks the sun more effectively but it tends to sag with the passage of time. Aluminum screens are expensive but strong. However, it tends to rust in humid climatic conditions. 

Although in Arizona there are very few basements, some customers ask us if they should put window sunscreens on their basement windows.

To answer the question, we recommend doing so if the sun is directly hitting those windows or if you basement gets really hot during the day. It also depends greatly on how big your basement windows are.

Most basement windows are usually under the ground and are not likely to get hit by direct sunlight so in most cases it is not necessary.

As for REGULAR insect screens we most definitely recommend that all basement windows have these. They will keep pests and flys out when you open up your basement windows to get some fresh air!
